Gas leak at Mongstad

200 people were evacuated at Mongstad refinery today due to an LPG gas leak.

LPG gas is highly flammable and explosive. The alarm went off Monday morning at 09.15. Around 200 people were evacuated. No people were harmed during the incident.

- Gas leaks are a very serious matter, and we regularly have drills regarding the procedure for a gas alarm, says communications manager Jon Halstein Tjore at Mongstad.

He declines to comment the reason for the gas leak.

- It's too early to say anything about that yet, says Tjore.
